Need to finish a story quickly? There’s an idiomatic expression for that!
📖
In English, just say ‘to cut a long story short’. The phrase usually goes at the start of the sentence before your summary of what happened.
Give us some example sentences starting with ‘to cut a long story short’.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today we celebrate the strength, talent, and impact of women everywhere. In Uzbekistan, this day has special meaning as we recognise the important role women play in families, communities, and society.
Wishing all women appreciation, support, and the opportunity to realise their full potential in every path they choose.

Xalqaro xotin-qizlar kuni muborak bo‘lsin!

Bugun biz dunyo bo'ylab barcha xotin-qizlarning matonati, iqtidori va jamiyatdagi o‘rnini ulug'laymiz. O‘zbekistonda bu kun alohida ahamiyat kasb etadi, zero biz ayollarning oila, mahalla va jamiyat hayotidagi muhim rolini e’tirof etamiz.
Barcha xotin-qizlarga doimo e'tibor markazida bo‘lish, qo‘llab-quvvatlanish hamda o‘zlari tanlagan yo‘lda salohiyatlarini to‘laqonli ro‘yobga chiqarish imkoniyatiga ega bo‘lishni tilaymiz.

🌍
Tashkent has hosted a major forum to discuss the quality of education in the context of growth.
📅
On March 3–4, British Council in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations and Westminster International University in Tashkent organised the Regional Symposium on Transnational Education 2026 that brought together educators, policymakers, and international partners from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the UK.
🎓
The discussions focused on the future of higher education: ensuring quality, expanding access, strengthening inclusivity, and harmonizing international programmes with national standards. The success story of Westminster International University in Tashkent stood out as a powerful example of how global education models can thrive in Uzbekistan.
🏫
Participants also visited key universities across the capital to see transnational programmes in action. The symposium reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to building a modern, innovative, and globally connected education ecosystem.
