On the BTC futures side, the price attempted to recover to $82,000 but took two hard hits and fell from $81,953 to $76,444, currently around $78,275.
Firstly, on October 28, the Fed kept the interest rate unchanged but gave a hawkish tone by saying
"inflation is still high" and two members expressed a desire for an increase; secondly, and more severely, on October 29, Binance was exposed to the largest crypto hack in history, with approximately $6.36 billion stolen (believed to be North Korea-sourced).
The forward-looking implication is critical: the exchange announced a temporary halt to transactions and will cover the loss, and some of the tunds were frozen, but an event of this scale creates a confidence shock and contagion risk in the market, leaving reactions fragile.
We established the short position more solidly this time: instead of blindly selling from the middle, sell at the main supply zone, i.e., the lost breakout level of $81,500 - $82,300; stop above $84,000, thus invalidation is clear (if $82,300 is strongly reclaimed, the structure is repaired, and the short ends), targets are $78,000 / $76,500 and $74,000.
For those who don't want to chase, a confirmed alternative: if the daily close comes below the hack low of $76,444, short at the $76,500 - $77,500 retest, stop at $78,800, targets are $74,000 / $71,000 /
$70,000.
On the buy side, only at the deep support of $74,000 - $76,000, stop at $72,000, targets are $78,500 /
$80,000 / $82,300. Decision points:
Reclaiming $82,300 ends the short thesis and recovery begins; closing below $76,444 opens
$74,000 - $70,000.
Until confidence is reestablished, a risk-off stance should be maintained.
