Xuddi shu kabi, IELTS da ham faqat qoida va strategiyalarni bilishning o‘zi yetarli emas.
Sifatli praktikasiz progress bo‘lishi juda qiyin.
For you to compare I am leaving both essays. And I don't have to comment which one was written by whom. Well, it is obvious.
P. S.
They are both taking General English individual lessons from me.
I’m a bit shocked, to say the least.
I gave the same writing homework to two of my students. The first student’s English level is genuinely higher than the second one’s. On top of that, the former student doesn’t struggle with idea generation at all. BUT! If we compare their homework, the seemingly “weaker” student produced a much better response.
And the key? We’ve been
PRACTICING
writing with the “weaker” student for about a month already. Meanwhile, the “stronger” student wrote the essay as homework for the first time and has received feedback only once.
So, this case led me to the following insight:
Having a high level doesn’t necessarily mean being able to write well. A high English level gives a student
potential
for strong writing, but without training the muscle of written expression, we can't improve our writing skills.
To put it simply,
we improve writing only by writing.
Simple, but beautiful…
