Speaking part 2
One of the most important decisions I’ve made in my life was choosing my university major. It was definitely a tough decision and also a real pivotal moment for me.
This happened about two years ago when I had just finished high school. I was at home with my family, trying to decide what to study next. At that time, I had several options, including business, IT, and foreign languages, so I needed to weigh up the options carefully.
At first, I felt quite confused because each field had its own advantages. I even had second thoughts after initially deciding to study business. To make a better choice, I turned to my parents and teachers for advice, and they helped me look at my strengths and interests. In the end, I decided to study IT because I enjoy problem-solving and technology, and I also tried to trust my intuition.
This decision was very important because it has shaped my future career path. I believe it was a life-changing decision and an important milestone in my life. It was difficult mainly because I didn’t want to make the wrong choice, but looking back, I think it was a wise decision.

Speaking apart 1
1. Are you good at making decisions?
I’d say I’m fairly good at making decisions, especially when I have enough time to weigh up the options. In important situations, I try to trust my intuition, but I also like to think things through carefully. Of course, there are times when I have second thoughts, but overall I believe I usually make wise decisions.

2. How do you make a difficult decision?
When I face a tough decision, I usually start by listing all the possible choices and then weighing up the options. I sometimes turn to my friends or family for advice, especially if it’s a life-changing decision. I try not to make a snap decision, because I think important choices need time and careful thought.

3. What are the most important decisions that people are faced with in their lives?
I think some of the most important decisions are related to education, career, and relationships. For example, choosing a career path is often a life-changing decision and a real pivotal moment in someone’s life. Another important one is deciding where to live, especially if it involves moving abroad, because people need to adapt to a completely new environment. These choices can become important milestones in a person’s life.

Mini article
I consider my relationships with my friends and family to be one of the most important things in my life. They are the people that I spend so much of my time with, so I really value and cherish all of those moments because you never know what might happen in the future.
I have had many ups and downs(8) with my friends and have occasionally fallen out with(3) some of them, and have even drifted apart(1) and lost touch with(10) some of the people that I no longer see eye to eye with(11).
But my two best friends are the ones who I have the most in common with(7) and even after long arguments, we still kissed and made up(6). We all met each other about 20 years ago, when we were in primary school, and we got on so well with each other(4) right from the start. Since then I have made many new friends(13) and gotten to know(5) a lot of people, but I can honestly say that I still enjoy the company(2) of my two childhood friends the most.
Now we are all older and getting married, starting our own families and settling down(12), and we even live quite far from each other, but I really hope that we all try to keep in touch with (9) one another and remain close friends for life.

1. Do you still communicate with all your childhood friends?
Not really. I used to be very close to many of my childhood friends, but over time we drifted apart because we went to different schools and later chose different career paths. However, I still keep in touch with a few of my closest friends through social media and messaging apps. Even though we don’t talk every day, we still get on well whenever we catch up.
2. Do you have a good relationship with your family?
Yes, I do. I get on very well with my family, especially my parents. We support each other and often spend time together, like having meals or talking about our day. Of course, we sometimes don’t see eye to eye, but we always try to understand each other and solve problems calmly. Overall, I would say we have a strong and healthy relationship.
3. Do you think it is important to maintain contact with your friends once you get married?
Yes, definitely. I believe it’s very important to keep in touch with friends even after getting married. Friends are an important part of our lives, and they can provide emotional support and different perspectives. Of course, priorities may change after marriage, but that doesn’t mean you should lose touch. Maintaining friendships can help create a more balanced and happy life.

TASK 2
📊
The growth of consumerism has improved people’s lives in many ways.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
📌
My Sample:
There is a view that increased consumerism has had a positive impact on people’s lives. Granted I acknowledge that this recent phenomenon might fuel economic growth, I am of the opinion that its effect on people’s lives is largely negative. The rise of consumerism usually results in conspicuous consumption and low levels of happiness.
Consumerism has affected our lives in many ways, with one of them being the influence on local economy. People tend to have a constant need to buy different products, be it grocery, clothing or technological appliances. The main reason behind this need are well- planned marketing campaigns targeting potential customers. As country receives a specific amount of tax from every single sold item, becoming the victims of these advertising ploys, people often make irrational purchases, thereby fueling the economy.
The above argument notwithstanding, I think that the growth of consumerism brought about several disadvantages to people’s lives. As people, now, can buy almost everything anytime anywhere, it widened the gap between classes. Having been able to cover their basic necessities, representatives of upper class and middle class often buy some items in order to show off. For example, they can purchase expensive cars or designer label clothing simply to state their status. This in turn makes people from marginalized groups feel left out.
Another concern regarding consumerism is the feeling of happiness. In the past, when people did not have a wide range of products, they had no chance but to be satisfied only with the products available. However, these days, with the access to a variety items and, people do shopping almost everyday. Also, since there are new fashionable products being manufactured every day, in order to catch up with the latest trend individuals buy them without even thinking about whether they actually need it or not. Thus, because of the constant desire to purchase something, people could feel less and less happy.
In conclusion, while the rise of consumerism helps the economies to flourish, it does more harm than good to people’s lives on the grounds that it creates a wider gap between the rich and poor that makes them feel dissatisfied with their life. Therefore, I believe that in the future people will learn more about the potential dangers caused by consumerism and try to avoid them.
