Frans Kafka bog‘da qo‘g‘irchog‘ini yo‘qotib yig‘layotgan qizchani ko‘rib qoladi. Ular birga qidirishadi, lekin topisholmaydi. Kafka: “qo'g'irchog'ing yo‘qolmagan, u sayohatga chiqqan”, — deb tasalli beradi.

Yillar o‘tadi qizcha ulg'ayadi bir kun tasodifan qo‘g‘irchoq ichidan kichik bir xat topib oladi .Unda shunday yozilgan edi:
“Sen uchun qadrli narsalar hech qachon butunlay yo‘qolmaydi balki boshqa ko‘rinishda qaytib keladi.”

Franz Kafka notices a little girl crying in the park. She had lost her favorite doll. They search together, but can't find it. Kafka comforts her: "Your doll isn't lost, it's gone on a journey."
The next day he comes with a letter — as if the doll had written it. From then on, he brings a new letter every day about the doll's adventures around the world. The girl's pain begins to ease.
On the last day, instead of a letter, Kafka brings the girl a different doll. The girl says, "This isn't my doll." Kafka smiles and replies, "This is your doll — it just changed a bit during its journey." The girl accepts it.
Years pass, and the girl grows up. One day she happens to find a small letter inside the doll. It read:
"The things you cherish never truly disappear. Sometimes they come back in a different form."
