Ethiopia map update: the situation in northern Ethiopia on 29/09/2026. Day 1 of the new war.
-In Tigray the TPLF captured the airports of Mekelle, Shire & Axum, consolidating their hold over the region.
-In Afar, a newly emerged group of ANURF has seized the town of Abala.
Need to stress that this is an approximate situation as the military balance in Amhara and Oromia in particular is very fluid. In the coming time clear territories of control will probably crystallise.

BREAKING: President Trump is preparing a 90-day ban on US diesel exports in an effort to bring down record diesel prices, per Politico.
Any halt to shipments would be the first such restriction since 2015, when President Obama lifted a long-time ban on oil exports.
This comes as diesel prices have surged over +100% from their lows seen just nine months ago.
Diesel futures are down -7% on the news.

— The Pentagon has added another U.S. military death to its public casualty database amid the war with Iran, bringing the officially disclosed total to 19, although U.S. officials say the actual number is higher, WaPo reports.
The Army identified the officer as Capt. Bianca C. Wilkerson, 37, of Norfolk, Virginia, who died on September 18 following a "non-combat-related medical emergency" while flying to the Middle East.
She was assigned to Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina and was supporting operations in Doha, Qatar.
Wilkerson was posthumously promoted to major.
