to MIDDLE GROUND
Most people seek balance in life -
the golden mean
according to Aristotle. In most cases, it actually puts you at a disadvantage and even in danger. Allow me to explain.
In life, it is better to be hated or loved by people most of the time, otherwise your name won't go down in history. Think about it, most of the successful people are either unspeakably evil (Adolf Hitler) or purely decent (Nelson Mandela) human beings. In UFC, nobody knows the fighters about whom fans are so-so. What made Conor Mcgregor notorious? - He was at the darker end of the spectrum. On the flip side, What made Khabib renowned? - He was at the brighter end of that same spectrum. Dana himself says:
You don't wanna be in the middle
. I can keep going but you got my point.
In finances, it is better to invest 10% of your income in stocks that bring optimal returns but with huge risks, and the other 90% with minimal benefits with little to no risk. This way, even if you end up losing that 10% - which is highly likely - you'd actually lose almost nothing coz the money you make from that stable 90% investment would compensate for it. However, if you win, you'd win big and Vola - welcome to the rich club) On the other hand, if you do it the 50/50 way, then you will, in all probability, end up losing that 50% and be left with only 50% with negligible returns.
In relationships, ask yourself: Do I want 10 friends who love/hate me 50/50 or just 2 who are fucking ready to go to war with me, if push comes to shove. I would choose the latter every day of every week and twice on Sundays.
In productivity, it is better to spend 85% of your week (1-6) working freaking hard , with 15% - Sundays - resting than do 50/50 daily, where you can accomplish neither work nor rest.
