Westminster International University in Tashkent proudly participated in the
Uzbekistan–Spain Universities Forum
, held in Madrid and Barcelona on 10–12 June 2026. Organised by the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE), the forum brought together representatives of Uzbek universities, alongside Spanish higher education institutions, policymakers and international education experts to strengthen academic cooperation and establish new partnerships between the two countries.
The Uzbek delegation was headed by the Rector of WIUT Komiljon Karimov, who addressed the forum’s plenary session, highlighting the ongoing reforms of Uzbekistan’s higher education system. In his remarks, he spoke about the country’s efforts to strengthen internationalisation, expand global academic partnerships, enhance the quality of education, promote innovation and research, and create broader opportunities for students and academics in line with international standards.
The forum served as an important platform for dialogue on a wide range of strategic topics, including international academic cooperation, Erasmus+ opportunities, student and staff mobility, joint educational programmes, research collaboration, digital and green transformation, and the role of universities in addressing global challenges.
As part of the forum,
Westminster International University in Tashkent signed a Cultural, Scientific and Pedagogical Convention
with the University of Santiago de Compostela
, one of Spain’s leading universities. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in education, research and academic exchange, creating new opportunities for joint projects, mobility programmes and institutional collaboration between the two universities.

Memorandum of Understanding signed between WIUT and the National Media Association of Uzbekistan
Westminster International University in Tashkent and the National Media Association of Uzbekistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of media, communications and creative industries.
Within the framework of the cooperation, the parties intend to organise joint projects and events, including conferences, workshops, training courses and other educational initiatives designed to strengthen professional development and facilitate knowledge exchange between academia and the media industry. The partnership will also create new opportunities for WIUT students through internships and practical placements within leading media organisations, supporting their professional development and future employability.
The MoU will also provide a framework for cooperation in support of WIUT’s Master’s programme in
Creative Industries Management
, promoting knowledge exchange and closer collaboration between academia and media professionals.

the Green & Digital Solutions for Central Asia Regional Hackathon
